Did you know that the ship that carried the first atomic bomb was blown up by the Japanese? This week on The Public Square® we hear from a U.S. Marine veteran from World War II. Mr. Ed Harrell lived quite an amazing story in the South Pacific in 1945. He was one of the Marines who stood guard over the atomic bomb while it was being transported. He also spent a harrowing five days shipwrecked and presumed lost at sea. On this Memorial Day weekend, we take a few moments to consider the generation that just one lifetime ago was fighting and bleeding and dying so that we could live free today.
